Ever do something crazy, cause I did!

Had another great weekend. Jon Millington, who is one of my best friends and is on Rotary Exchange in France came to stay at my house for the weekend. It was so nice to see someone who I knew from Charlottetown. I felt like a part of me was home again. We had a ton of fun all weekend especially when I SHAVED MY HEAD!

I've always wanted to try it just once, and last week I realized that this year is easily the best time for me to do it. I've also always wanted to try dying my hair, so I did that too before I shaved my head. I dyed my hair black on Thursday, cut off my wings Friday, and I shaved off every hair on Sunday.

I got a lot of it recorded on my digital camera and so I'm going to put together a movie to put on this blog. But, until that' finished here are a few pictures of the damage. I shouldn't say damage though, I really wanted to do it and I'm still happy I did. Although I can't wait until my hair grows back. It's freezing over here right now!

Rotary Meeting in Namur

Hello again,
My week was pretty normal, well as normal as a week can be when you're living an ocean away from your home. This weekend we had a Rotary meeting in Namur, another city in Belgium. We took the train over from Liege (I'm so happy to be in a country where there's excellent public transit!) and then had a meeting with all of the exchange students from all three districts of Belgium.

As usual they were going over the rules again, however we were given waffles and juice after which made everyone a little more content. After that we walked to a river that passes through Namur and went on a boat for a tour of the city. The tour was really nice, it lasted about two hours. One really neat part was when the boat went into the lock in the river.

I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving. It was so strange not having it. I miss turkey so much! Oh well, I think that me and some of the other American and Canadian exchange students are going to have our own Thanksgiving on the day of the American one.

Hope all is well at home,
Jeff

Rotary Cheer

When we were in the caves I started the rotary chant! It's made up of three different parts in three different languages.

Yet another amazing week!

Yet another amazing week!
Yet another amazing week has come and gone. This week I started boxing class, visited a bunch of caves with Rotary, and went to a festival in Liege called La Nocturne. It was all so wonderful. Boxing is going to be a lot of fun this year I think. We go twice a week on Wednesday and Thursday nights. My first class was on Thursday and all we did for an hour and a half was exercise. My coach told us that it's going to be like that for the first two months of class! After that we'll learn how to box.

The caves were so amazing! I've never been inside any real caves before so it was a truly unique experience. When we parked beside the small mountain I never could have imagined the incredible caverns that were inside.

La Nocturne was really nice tonight. In Liege there is this famous set of old outdoor stairs. There are over 300 steps! On the night of la Nocturne they cover the stairs and the surrounding area with candles. It's quite beautiful. The great atmosphere is also enhanced by the wikid food and the sweet live music!

I'm loving everything over here and looking forward to my next adventure!

18 years old!

18 years old!
Hello again,

This was another excellent weekend. I went out with friends on Friday night but we had to turn in early because we had to get up at 5:30AM on Saturday. On Saturday we went kayaking for the whole day. It was awesome! The weather was beautiful and the scenery even more beautiful. We even saw a castle! On Sunday I went for a hike with my host family and some other exchange students with their families. The weather from the previous day had held over, which made for a wonderful hike. We walked up and down mountains all day, and after we went to my third host family's house for dinner, which turned out to be my surprise birthday party!

The food was delicious, the gifts were wonderful, but most importantly having people around who cared about me made it a night I will never forget. If any of you read this, thank you so much. Thanks as well to anyone else who sent me a little email or wall post. It was really nice to see that you were thinking of me.

If you want to see more pictures from my weekend I've posted them on facebook.

Thinking of you,
Jeff
